Coming to the Williamsburg
Sampler is like staying in a 'virtual museum crammed full of
artifacts.'* If you're
looking to vacation in the Jamestown / Williamsburg region, and you
enjoy seeing, touching and learning about American history, as well
as other parts of the world, our bed and breakfast is for you.
The setting and
architecture are the first things you notice when you visit our
Colonial Williamsburg bed and breakfast.
Located in the Architectural Corridor Protection District of
Williamsburg, the structure, set across from the College of William
& Mary, is an 18th century plantation style brick Colonial designed
by a local former architect for historical colonial Williamsburg.
Once inside, you can
spend hours walking through the bed and breakfast to see
different items that we have either discovered ourselves on our
own vacations or have
received as gifts. They include:
- four-poster beds
- two Chinese Terra cotta warriors (life size)
- a model of the Taj Mahal carved in the original marble
- pewter from the USA, Germany and Ireland
- large statue from India of Ganesha The Elephant God
- 1887 Pump Organ
- 1827 Arm Chair from Austria
- antique wall clock
- antique samplers (cross-stitch, wooden masks from South Africa)
- items from the Helen Marie Gallery of Antique and Collectibles
A new treat to the collection we just received is a gift of pros
from the forthcoming John Adams mini-series, part of which was
shot here in Williamsburg, VA. The items consisted of a wooden
box (with a label saying in part: East India Company) which contained
tea which was dumped into the river for the "tea party."
A small red tea pot and
flat block of pressed tea (which was the way it was shipped) was
also included which represented the original tea.
We look forward to your
next vacation for you to visit us and to talk about all these
fabulous pieces. Call us at 1-800-722-1169 or send us an email to learn more.
